They used to call that being thick skinned. I don't hear anyone telling kids this anymore and I have to wonder if it is because as adults we stopped believing it or there is some other reasoning behind the change in the youth and the sensitivity. I am not denying bullying and the effects it had on children in my generation or in generations before me. But I am not aware of mass shootings at schools in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s or 80s-- all the former generations who received the Sticks and stones playground philosophy.
Reading today's blog you are thinking what does this have to do with Retinol Moisturizer? When I first tried Retinol it broke me out, so I stopped. I tried a different brand. Same results. So being in the generation raised from the early 80s with technology and computers. I hopped on the good foot and checked out the good book, kidding I 'bing'ed retinol breakouts and found out that the retinol thins out the epidermis and for people who are prone to breakouts may see what seems like more break outs at first but what is occurring is a purging of what is directly under the skin and is temporary. It will take a few days to a week for the bad to lead to great skin.
My initial digression leads back around to this, we need a little bad to build up a tough skin to some bullying. If we have never been insulted then the first time we are it is going to crush our whole world. But if someone in elementary school calls us "Dany flowered panties" because our mom bought us flowered panties when I was too old for them and went to slumber party. Did I freak out, nope I embraced it and let my friend call me it? It lasted into junior high but morphed into DaniPani.
After the initial breakout of the Body Merry 2.5% Retinol Moisturizer, the product was great. Smooth clear skin after the initial breakout that some retinol pages claim do not occur But if I had not the patience to research and find out why I was breaking out I would have just assumed I was allergic or this was just not the product for me. Thanks to Labgirl at acne.org for her info and my horrible translation of her brillant scientific explanation.
